On December 31, 2014, a Canada storm brought cold weather and snow that blanketed the mountains in southwest Riverside County and some of the cities. There was an estimated 1.5 inches of snow that fell overnight in Murrieta alone. Some other cities in southwest Riverside County recorded snowfall:
- La Cariso Village, south of Lake Elsinore: 10 inches
- French Valley Airport: 2 to 2.5 inches
- Horsethief Canyon, 8 miles northwest of Lake Elsinore: 6 inches estimated
- Temecula: 2-3 of "heavy wet snow" on the south side of town
