SERVPRO of Murrieta Eliminates Water Damage
First: Thank you to the firefighters
All of us at SERVPRO® of Murrieta want to convey our appreciation to the firefighters who are battling wildfires here in California, Oregon, and Washington.
Firefighters from all over the United States, plus many from Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Canada, have been running towards danger to save lives, homes, and land.
Thank you.
Sometimes, a little water is too much
A small leak from a slow-to-drain shower can leave a damp patch of plaster that never dries out. The water damage can destroy plaster, support beams in walls, floors, and ceilings, and the flooring itself.
Water damage can also come from:
- Leaking dishwashers or washing machines
- Burst pipes
- Broken HVAC
- Overflowing tubs
- Wet towels left on porous surfaces (water can destroy even nonporous surfaces if given enough time)
Whatever the source of the water, the water will only get worse over time. As soon as you notice it, give us a call. We are SERVPRO of Murrieta.
Emergency services are always available
Call us at 951-894-4392. Emergencies can happen any time of the day or night, on weekends, on holidays, and when there is just too much to do.
The sooner we arrive, the sooner we can remediate the damage and prevent additional damage.
We have technicians who earned certificates in:
- Water extraction
- Cleaning/disinfecting textiles (upholstered furniture, carpets/rugs, window treatments, other)
- Cleaning/disinfecting structure and flooring
- Odor removal
- Restoration of water-damaged materials
When we arrive at a home, business, or community building, we start assessment immediately. We document all the damage and the restoration.
Other times, a little water is great
We find when we’re looking at the ocean that a lot of water is pretty darned terrific as well. In this case, we’re thinking about using water in artwork.
Spray bottles
Spray bottle art can be simplified for child artists or made more complicated for adults.
Fill spray bottles with a combination of water and either:
- Food coloring (use a lot, as the color will lighten as it dries)
- Water-soluble paint
- Other dyes
Spray on heavy paper or fabric
Let dry
You can mix the colors either in the bottle or on the surface. Play around with drawing shapes or designs and fill in with the spray-bottled colors.
Marble effect
Make designs that look like marbling
First, make liquid starch:
- Bring 3 3/4 cup tap water to a rolling boil.
- Mix the tablespoon of cornstarch into ¼ cup of cold water.
- Stir constantly until cornstarch is completely dissolved.
- Once water boils, slowly stir in cornstarch mixture.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Pour the cooled liquid into a one-quart bottle.
Next
- Pour the liquid starch into a shallow bowl.
- Add drops of acrylic paint; if the paint sinks, think it with some water.
- Use two or more colors.
- Swirl the colors with a wooden skewer or spoon.
- Dip fabric or cardstock into the paint mixture.
- Let dry
- Ta-da! You now have marbled paper or fabric.
Stay safe!
