2020 Fire Season Breaks Records
California is having the worst fire season, breaking records throughout the State. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), dry and gusty weather settings are causing critical fire conditions across a large portion of the western United States and into the plains. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE) has recorded 7982 wildfires that have burned over 3,627,010 acres to date.
The largest wildfires in California are still under investigation to identify the cause. They are the August Complex, the SCU Lightning Complex fire, the LNU Lightning Complex fire, the North Complex, and the Creek fire.
